American Legion Riders

American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children's hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded servicemembers and scholarships. Since 2006, Riders nationwide have participated in The American Legion Legacy Run to annually raise money for the Legacy Scholarship Fund, established to provide scholarships to children of U.S. military personnel killed since Sept. 11, 2001.

Join American Legion Riders Chapter 138

Membership in American Legion Riders Chapter 138 is open to active members of The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion, or American Legion Auxiliary. Applicants must maintain their membership in one of these American Legion Family organizations.
Chapter 138 recognizes three participation categories:
Rider: You operate a properly registered and insured motorcycle and hold a valid driver’s license with the required motorcycle endorsement.
Passenger: You participate as the passenger of a named Rider and do not operate a motorcycle as an American Legion Rider.
Supporter: You participate under the sponsorship of a named Rider and support Chapter activities without operating a motorcycle.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and complete the Chapter membership application and liability waiver. Riders must certify that they are properly licensed, insured, and able to operate their motorcycle safely. For Department of Florida or National sanctioned motorcycle events, motorcycles must be at least 750cc, and auto-cycles are not permitted.
New applicants are encouraged to attend a Chapter meeting so the officers can verify American Legion Family eligibility, review the required documents, and welcome the applicant to the Chapter. Meetings are typically held on the third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
What to bring...
Bring your completed membership application, proof of current American Legion Family membership, the signed liability waiver, and motorcycle registration, insurance, and endorsement information when applying as a Rider. Applicants should also complete the emergency medical record used during Chapter rides and activities.
